AI Discovery and Evaluation
We help you to find the AI, understand its use and decide what follows.
An organisation cannot make sound decisions about AI that it has not identified or properly understood.
Anekanta®’s AI discovery and evaluation services establish where AI is being considered, developed, procured, integrated and used across an organisation. We examine what each AI system is doing in practice and create the evidence needed to assess its potential value, its risks and its regulatory significance.
Discovery may begin with a proposed use case or with uncertainty about an organisation’s existing AI estate. In either case, the purpose is to replace assumptions with an evidenced basis for decisions.
Discovery beyond a list of AI products
A list of vendors and product names is not an AI system inventory.
The same technology can support several different use cases, involving different data, outputs, users, affected people and levels of human involvement. Those differences can materially change the value, risk and legal treatment of the system.
AI features may be visible in familiar productivity tools, but it can also be embedded within operational systems, products, automated decision processes, software development, testing and DevOps. It may have been procured centrally, introduced by a business function, through shadow AI use, or incorporated into a wider technology service.
Anekanta® works across leadership, technical, operational, procurement and risk functions to establish the intended purpose, operational context, ownership, lifecycle stage and dependencies of each relevant system.
Connecting AI investment with organisational reality
For planned and existing use cases, discovery considers commercial and operational value alongside feasibility, data, skills, integration, human oversight and organisational impact.
This creates a more credible basis for investment. Some opportunities will justify further development. Others may require stronger controls, a different design or a narrower use. Occasionally, the right decision will be to defer or stop.
Discovery therefore connects AI strategy with governance before cost, risk and technical dependency become embedded in the organisation.
EU AI Act classification
For the EU AI Act, discovery establishes whether a system falls within the legal definition of AI, how and where it is being used, and the organisation’s role within the AI value chain.
The intended purpose and actual use can determine whether a prohibited practice is involved, whether the system is classified as high-risk, whether transparency requirements apply, or whether other obligations arise.
This classification provides the starting point for decisions about remediation, technical and organisational controls, documentation, conformity assessment preparation and the continued development or use of the system.

ISO/IEC 42001 AI discovery and scope
ISO/IEC 42001 leads to a different assessment.
AI discovery and evaluation provides the foundation for a meaningful AI system inventory and a credible scope for the organisation’s AI management system. It identifies relevant systems and lifecycle activities, including development, procurement, integration, deployment, operation and monitoring.
It also begins to expose ownership, resources, third-party relationships, data dependencies, impacts and existing controls. This evidence informs the organisation’s risk and opportunity assessment, AI system impact assessment, control decisions and Statement of Applicability.
EU AI Act classifications are not simply transferred into an ISO/IEC 42001 risk register. The Act determines the legal treatment of particular systems and uses. ISO/IEC 42001 requires the organisation to address risks and opportunities within the context and scope of its AI management system.

From AI discovery evidence to action
AI discovery creates an organised view of the systems and use cases that add value, not simply an inventory of software.
Depending on the purpose and scope of the engagement, it can support use-case prioritisation, AI system inventory development, regulatory classification, ISO/IEC 42001 scoping and the identification of systems requiring deeper risk or impact assessment.
The result is a clearer set of decisions: where to invest, what to include within the management system, what requires further assessment, what must be remediated and what should not proceed.
Where a system requires more detailed examination, the Anekanta® AI Risk Intelligence System™ provides a structured, human-led evaluation of its operation, impact, governance and risk.

AI discovery and evaluation starts with what you know
Some organisations come to us with a defined AI proposal. Others know that AI is already being used but do not have a reliable view of where, why or with what consequences.
Tell us what prompted the enquiry, what is already known and what decision the organisation needs to make.

Anekanta® helps you make the right AI value choices for maximum ROI and minimum risk.
